Po tym artykule w "The Guardian" wybuchła mała bomba atomowa w mediach. Dowiedziono bowiem, że Cambridge Analytica korzystała z danych z Facebooka jakie zdobyła inna firma pod pozorem badań naukowych a potem wykorzystywała je do mikrotargetowania w celach wpłynięcia na preferencję wyborczych. 

CA dokonała analiz i wpływała na wybory w USA (prezydenckie) i UK (referendum dot. UE). Prawdopodobnie przeprowadziła kampanie w kilkudziesięciu miejscach na świecie zarabiając miliony dolarów na danych z Facebooka.

Christopher Wylie czyli osoba, która była jednym z twórców CA twierdzi, że pracował dla Steve'a Bannona oraz Roberta Mercera - obaj mocno zaangażowani po stronie Trumpa. Pojawia się też motyw rosyjski - CA prezentował swoje możliwości podczas biznesowego spotkania przedstawicielom Łukoil. W jakim celu? Nie wiadomo do końca.

Gdzie jest wina Facebooka? Pozwolę sobie na cytat z artykułu:

“It’s a form of very deep but soft power that’s been seen as an asset for the US. Russia has been so explicit about this, paying for the ads in roubles and so on. It’s making this point, isn’t it? That Silicon Valley is a US national security asset that they’ve turned on itself.”

Przy takich ilościach danych, możliwościach ich łączenia i bardzo drobiazgowego ich zbierania za pomocą Facebooka serwis Zuckerberga przekroczył punkt krytyczny. Stał się bronią masowego rażenia w modelu cyfrowym - tylko, że dostępną w zasadzie dla każdego. 

Nawet dla przeciwników systemu, który pozwolił na stworzenie Facebooka. Rosjanie płacili rublami za odpalenie kampanii na platformie Zuckerberga. Czy może być większa ironia?

"To wariactwo" to słynny komentarz Marka Zuckerberga odnośnie wykorzystania Facebooka do wpływania na wyniki wyborów w USA i UK.

Wariactwem byłoby wierzyć w to, że Facebook, Google, Apple czy Amazon będą działały w interesie społecznym a nie tylko biznesowym wtedy kiedy im to jest na rękę.

Don't be evil - w to już chyba nikt nie wierzy.
